Meet the couple: BLW Squared

Brittany and Brian met over Facebook.  Yes, the infamous site is good for something!  They started conversing and they realized they were in close proximity to each other when they mentioned the current churches they were members at; they delved in deeper when Brittany mentioned that she was a former member at St. Stephen's in Wilmington.  Of course, Brian mentioned that him and his family used to be members there as well, and the race was on to discover who each other was.  When Brittany realized who his family was (she remembered being told that Brian had to leave the church because his mom was allergic to it; that's how the explained it to the fifth grade Sunday School class at the time), a connection was struck.  Fortunately for Brittany, Brian had no recollection of her or any of her childhood antics (thank goodness!), but he did remember her grandmother.  They decided to meet up for a date, and the rest was history.  They made it official a few days later.  When they introduced the other to their immediate families, both approved (having known each other families and what "stock" they came from made the approval process very easy!).

Brian transferred his membership from Grace to St. Philip's, and started regularly attending worship.  Before long, they were involved in many ways at the church.  Currently, they both serve together as Youth Group Advisors, Brian teaches High School Boys' Sunday School (Woodshop and Bible Study combined; they have built the Ark of the Covenant, Lent puzzle crosses, and Faith Chests for the younger Sunday School children), and both help out on the technology committee (which is currently in the process of overhauling the church website).  Their pastor, Patrick Downes (who has known both families and was a youth advisor himself to Brittany at St. Stephen's), will be officiating at the wedding ceremony.

In addition to church activities, both Brian and Brittany are active in Scouting; Brian's love of the organization helped to drag Brittany into involvement.  When Brittany found out that Boy Scouts of America has a co-ed branch in its system, she decided to join the organization in hopes of spreading the word to girls about Venturing.  They are on the district committee, serving on the Advancement Board, and they are in the process of trying to get a Venturing Crew started at St. Philip's.

Brittany and Brian have another cat together, Willow, in addition to Brian's cat Socks.  They also have a recent addition to their "family"; a dog, half Maltese half Yorkie (dubbed a "Morkie"), called Mindi (get the joke, you older folks?  Mork and Mindi??).  They enjoy watching Family Guy, any type of movies, and going to Ikea together.  Once married, they will live in Newark together, and hope to save enough for a house/townhome to purchase one in the upcoming future together.
